The City of League City is celebrating Veterans Day by thanking those who are currently serving our country. The City has organized "A Hint of Home", a letter writing and care package drive. The City is encouraging residents to write a letter of thanks to troops who are currently serving our country. In addition, the City is collecting magazines, candy, gum and beef jerky that will be sent in care packages to deployed troops. Letters and care package items will be collected from Monday, November 7 through Thursday, November 10 at League City Hall at South Shore Harbour, Helen Hall Library and the Johnnie Arolfo Civic Center during normal business hours. On Veterans Day, Friday, November 11, representatives from the City of League City will be at the Chester L. Davis Sportsplex to accept donations. Residents are invited to drop off items and visit the City's Veterans Memorial from 10 am to noon. The City is partnering with Project Love and Operation Interdependence to ship the care packages to soldiers deployed overseas. "The City is proud to join forces with these organizations to show our servicemen and women that League City honors the sacrifices they have made on our behalf," said Rich Oller, Acting City Manager for the City of League City.
