Ronald "Ron" Sanford Garrett, Sr., was born on June 12, 1952, to George and Eula Garrett in Augusta, Georgia, and received his complete healing when he went home to be with his Lord, Jesus Christ, on January 16, 2011, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, at the age of 58. He married Cheryl Garner on January 11, 1979, in Muskogee, Oklahoma. They had just recently celebrated their 32nd wedding anniversary. Ron lived a life of service. Starting as a cub scout, Ron advanced forward reaching the rank of Eagle Scout. Following Graduation, Ron joined the Marine Corp where he served faithfully, first, as a Personnel specialist, then as a member of the EOD team. Ron became a Muskogee City Police officer serving for 8 1/2 years, Ron was a Ranger for the Boy Scouts, living at Camp Fred Darby for 2 years at Welling, Oklahoma where he built the canoe program into the place to be for young men. Ron then returned to Muskogee and began a job which he loved very much. He became a Department of Veterans Affairs Police officer, serving in that capacity for a total of 30 years combined government service. Ron also served as a longtime member of the IABTI and traveled to various areas to work, learn and train with his fellow bomb techs. Ron also volunteered with the Red Cross, teaching swimming, life saving, CPR and advanced CPR. He worked blood drives and other areas as needed. He had friends from around the globe and treasured every friendship. Ron's life of service was overshadowed and led by his service ...
